Local Activities and places to see!!

Within an 8 to 10 minute drive of the house is La Forêt de l’Aventure which is an outdoor fun activity for children and adults.

As you can see below, platforms, ladders, ropes and frames have been strung between the trees in the forest to create a wonderful adventure area to climb and explore.

 

There is a tiny course for little children, an intermediate and a fully fledged course for the more confident explorer. This course can take a good couple of hours to get around, although there are pop off points if you've had enough.

 

The site is carefully managed and training is given when you first arrive at the park.

 

You are fully harnessed with 3 clasps to make it fail safe.

 

Adults are required to accompany children.

There is also a Go-Kart course opposite the Forêt de l’Aventure, again for both children and adults. It's a great track and very professionally managed.

Also not far from the house are many swimming pools, both indoor and out.

There's a lot to do in this area. There's another slightly different type of Forêt de l’Aventure a little further but still within 35 minutes of the house. This is in the Forest of Mervent, near the beautiful historic town of Vouvant. Mervent lies at the heart of the forest of Mervent-Vouvant some 12 kms north east of Fontenay le Comte in the south Vendee. Vouvant is said to be one of the most beautiful villages of the Loire.

 

 

In part still surrounded by ramparts, Vouvant is entered by original gates in the walls. Within the village, narrow streets, lined with well-preserved medieval houses, lead to the central square and the Notre-Dame Church. On the edges of town, don't miss the 14th century stone bridge across the river, or the Tower of Melusine (the remaining part of a chateau that once stood here).

Also within 15 minutes drive of the house is the famous Mines of Faymoreau.
